Due to some personal issues, I haven’t kept up with this blog like I’d planned… but today that’s changing.  My husband’s great aunt turned 100 and I just had to make her a card.  The stamp is from Stampendous and is part of their new Laurel Burch collection.  I stamped the image on Strathmore Bristol Smooth in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored it with Finecolour alcohol markers, adding a bit of gold sparkle with a Tekwriter gel pen.  The gold card stock is from Gina K. Designs and the black is by Recollections.  The orange card stock was a gift from a crafty friend so I’m not sure who makes it.

I know this is an unusual image for a birthday card – but the message inside make it work.

“Over 36,500 sunrises and sunsets, yet we still love you more each day.  Happy 100th birthday!”

Although her sight isn’t that great, she really seemed to like the bright colors, and when her daughter described the card and read her the sentiment, she beamed.  It’s such an honor to have made a card for such a special lady!
